PeaceBox calls on local corporations to join in the ‘Summer of Giving’

Austin’s mobile meditation studio offers local companies the opportunity to give PeaceDays to area schools with giving back program

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Austin-based, mobile meditation studio PeaceBox today announced the launch of a special Summer of Giving program focused on bringing mindfulness and improved wellness to Austin-area schools. PeaceBox’ “pop-up” mobile studio teaches meditation and mindfulness techniques designed to reduce stress and improve overall wellness. This summer, PeaceBox is on a mission to deliver these tools to schools in need by partnering with local businesses.

Starting this month, for every two days PeaceBox: Mindfulness on The Move™ is booked on the calendar to visit a corporate location, one PeaceDay will be donated to an eligible school. Organizations who hire PeaceBox for on-site mindfulness training will not only give their employees the benefits of mindfulness and meditation but will also be increasing their corporate social responsibility (CSR) by giving back to surrounding schools in need of mindfulness training for students and staff.

An organization interested in participating in the Summer of Giving program can visit peacebox.com/work/corporate-intake-form to sign up. Program pricing and package options are available here: peacebox.com/work/#pricing. To become an eligible recipient of a PeaceDay and to join the waiting list, school officials may contact PeaceBox indicating their interest in the program.

“Now more than ever, we want to bring companies in our community together to aid in bringing mindfulness training to schools,” said Stacy Thrash, owner and founder of PeaceBox. “With the rising needs and demands for students and staff, we wanted to provide an opportunity for companies to not only help their own employee teams, but also provide a way to give back. So many times, students and staff just need the proper coping mechanisms to begin to transform their learning experience to have positive outcomes. The PeaceBox Summer of Giving is the perfect way to get local businesses involved in this meaningful mission.”

In recent years, school districts have begun to focus more attention on the issue of mental health. At the beginning of the 2017 to 2018 school year, Lake Travis Independent School District (ISD) conducted a survey to evaluate high-risk behavior trends in students. With over 1,700 respondents, the survey found that 17 percent of students have seriously considered suicide and 37 percent of those who considered it actually attempted suicide.

Armed with this alarming data, counselors at local schools like Westlake High School have decided to take matters into their own hands to address this growing issue. In fact, Westlake High School is first in line as the upcoming recipient of PeaceDays under PeaceBox’ Summer of Giving program. Supported by counselors and the Westlake Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), Westlake High School will utilize PeaceBox’ services to bring mindfulness tools to staff, teachers and students.

The list of schools waiting to receive a PeaceDay is already growing, and so is the lineup of companies looking to participate. PeaceBox offers flexible workplace training options to accommodate different goals and budgets. For organizations who schedule less than two days of PeaceBox services, their day of participation will count toward the Summer of Giving co-op of companies giving back. Organizations can also support a school of their choice by sponsoring directly with a donation of $750.  Multiple organizations’ booked days accrue for a donated PeaceDay. In addition to giving back, companies will also receive prominent name recognition for their contribution and support.

Since opening just over one year ago, PeaceBox has made a significant impact on the Austin community through offered classes, trainings, workshops and retreats. With two mobile meditation studios, PeaceBox is “on the move” to meet companies, schools, and the community where they are. Companies looking to join the Summer of Giving program and support mental health in schools should visit the PeaceBox website for addition information on programs and pricing.
